A diligent attempt was made to correct and standardize author citations, and to bring them into accordance with the most recent Taxonomic Literature. Through years of effort to accomplish this task, tens of thousands of citations were checked carefully with original literature sources. With nearly 100,000 names in the TDC (including synonyms), approximately 5%, or nearly 5,000 author citations, remain unverified.
