To facilitate location of names within the TDC, we created two optional formats, checklist and thesaurus. The spellings of all names and authors used within these options are identical, except for the arrangement of names. Each name is listed alphabetically by genus. Accepted names are in bold font, whereas synonyms are in light font and are followed by their accepted names. The thesaurus and the checklist portions of the TDC are together intended to provide a comprehensive summary of accepted names and their “manual-level” synonyms of the North American vascular flora north of Mexico.
